As a jewelry designer living on the edge of Casco Bay, inspiration washes up daily with the tide.
Recently, I designed a pair of earrings shaped like slender, flowing blades of eelgrass. I wanted them to shimmer like light through shallow water and curve gently through the ear.
Beneath the surface of Casco Bay lie vast underwater meadows of eelgrass that support underwater ecosystems and their roots help protect the coastline from erosion.
My seagrass earrings are a quiet tribute to an under appreciated anchor in our bay.
They represent resilience, grace, and quiet strength.
